TEACHER DO: Record accurate ideas on the board or on paper for students to refer to in the next lesson. Ideas might include the following:
- Line up one end of the item at the zero.
- Look at the number under the other end of the item.
- Hold the item (or the ruler) still.
- Put the item close to the ruler.
